With Studio Tour

125 Singapore dollars
Synergraphic Office

About the Workshop

This workshop offers a basic introduction to glassworking and in particular, glass fusing. Each participant will get to take home a beautiful jewellery piece of your own. First, you will be introduced to various glass types suitable for fusing creations. Then, spend time picking up basic glass cutting skills with your own hands. Practice on industrial float glass to gain confidence in cutting regular shapes, before working with actual fusible colored glass that will be used to create your own fused glass item. Learn how to use the grinding machine to polish sharp edges before assembling your final creation. Follow our existing design templates or go wild with your imagination! Once you are happy with your creation, place your piece in the kiln and learn the basics of how to operate the kiln. We are now ready to fire it up! As the kiln heats, up, enjoy a tour of the family-run glass workshop where you will see various glass equipment and materials. Finally, return to the mini gallery to view glass art pieces made by local and international glass artists and craftsmen over the decades. For this jewellery workshop edition, you have a choice of pendant, cufflinks or earrings. Your piece will come complete with the jewellery metal findings so that your piece can be worn. Pieces will be fired toward the end of the workshop and will require time to cool (approx. 2 hours). We will then use special jewellery glue to attach the metal findings. The completed piece will be available for collection three days later, or will be delivered to you ($5 delivery fee). This workshop is for beginners and no prior experience is required. MATERIALS/TOOLS PROVIDED Float glass, High quality fusible glass from US (colored glass and clear base), glass cutters, pliers, safety equipment (for use at workshop only). Metal attachments for turning the piece into a wearable will be provided. Note that the basic set is plated metal and sterling silver option is available at additional fee ($5 for earrings, $10 for pendant).
