"Nostalgia" is an art installation that transports viewers back to the old playgrounds that were once iconic in Singapore’s neighborhoods. Inspired by the simplicity of the past, this lego-like installation is composed of 3,605 colorful bricks, meticulously arranged to create a mosaic that celebrates the once-familiar playground structures. It serves as both a vivid visual and tactile experience, inviting viewers to touch the textured bricks and engage with memories of childhood. This artwork finds its home within the hallowed halls of the Changi Chapel and Museum, where it stands as a beacon of hope for those who endured the trials of Changi Goal during the Japanese Occupation. The design process commenced with immersive research, as the lead artist, Florence Ng, delved into the graceful sway of poppy fields and the dynamic interplay of light and shadow. Rich hues of crimson, golden ochre, and verdant green were meticulously selected to evoke the warmth of a summer's day.
